Day 16: Ave mo

Another day, another photo. (And in case you’re wondering, yes, I’ve got plenty more masks.) I think it’s safe to say that the ‘tache is now in the ‘why does my face feel funny?’, ‘what’s this hairy slug under my nose?’, ‘how much longer till the 1st of December?’ phase. It’s also remarkably high maintenance which a) reminds me why I got rid of the goatee when I left Uni and b) re-affirms my belief that I really haven’t got much free time on my hands. But let’s not get back to the topic of ticking clocks.

The most interesting development is that it is definitely starting to make me feel different. It’s compelling me to be much more self-conscious about my appearance (never a good thing), it’s subtly causing me to pair more serious ties with my shirts when I dress for the Day Job and I swear it’s making me smile less (purely because the act of smiling feels rather odd and… crinkly at the moment). It’s also causing everyone I know to feel free to pass judgement on the way I look with what is turning into soul-crushing regularity. I’ve been called Greek, Russian, Argentinian, Turkish and Romanian. (Never Polish or Iranian!) I’ve been told I’ve got an evil gash across my face. I’ve been laughed at, sneered at and pointed at. But I just keep reminding myself that I’m doing this for a good cause

And speaking of said cause, please take a look at this recent Movember-related article from The Guardian, especially if you’re a fan of Blackadder.

On a completely different note, please visit Grain De Musc for a post about the passing of Jean-François Laporte, the founder of L’Artisan Parfumeur.

Ciao for now,

Persolaise.

  1. Keep it up Persolaise. I'm really enjoying seeing which mask you're going to unveil next. Speaking of which, i can't quite get my head around how you manage to get your hands on so many!

  2. Michael, thanks very much for stopping by, and for your comment.

The masks weren't my idea, but they made perfect sense when they were suggested to me. I bought a whole load in one go. Thankfully, they weren't too expensive.

I love hearing from my readers, so please feel free to write a comment or ask a question.
