Okay, it’s time to pack away the fairy lights and get this blog-shaped ball rolling again. A very happy new year to one and all. May the next 12 months bring us excellent health, plenty of laughs and, of course, many pleasant encounters with the contents of perfume bottles.

As ever, there is much to look forward to, as far as fragrance releases are concerned. Serge Lutens will soon be treating us to his take on loft insulation: his next instalment in the Eau series is called Laine De Verre. Cartier are scheduled to unveil two more entries in their exclusives Heures range, composed by Mathilde LaurentTauer Perfumes will finally reveal the Sotto La Luna project. Frederic Malle will make Sophia Grojsman‘s New York-exclusive Outrageous available at all his points of sale. And perhaps Vuitton will finally let us discover Jacques Cavallier‘s work on their debut perfume.

Persolaise.com resumes normal service on Friday with a review of a highly commendable iris scent from last year. And then next week, all being well, I hope to be able to treat you to an interview with someone to whom the niche world owes a veritable mountain range of gratitude.

Until then, forget the detox diet and grab that last chunk of Toblerone!

  1. Did you really mean a scent based on loft "insulation?" Ah yes, the smell of asbestos, redolent of that very special cancer of the lining of the lung, and the smell of fiberglass, also so very healthy.

    1. Anon, I'm afraid so. The perfume's name translates as the material used to keep us warm and snug in our cosy little homes 🙂

That said… modern insulation isn't really all that dangerous any more… is it??

  2. Modern insulation still should not be inhaled, and is often installed by workers wearing masks.

  3. I had not heard of Outrageous, so I was just looking at the fragrantica reviews. It sounds a bit like Calyx but without the overripe fruit vibe. I love Calyx, so I dunno about this one. But it's a Grojsman … Have you tried it?

    1. Annemariec, no, I haven't had the pleasure either, so I'm just as curious as everyone else. Malle rates Grojsman's skills very, very highly, so I'm hoping her sole perfume for him is a stunner.

I love hearing from my readers, so please feel free to write a comment or ask a question.
