Bathroom chaos at Maison Persolaise has entered Week 2. We’re steadily getting closer to our goal, but we’ve got to wait at least another 8 days or so before life can return to normal. The work has filled the house with all sorts of interesting odours, most of them unwelcome. First there was the noxious adhesive I mentioned last week. Then there was the smell of damp earth rising from the bare floor. We’ve also had the powdery, vaguely milky scent of wet plaster. The dryness of gathering dust. The bright cleanliness of fresh wood. And now the plastic, cloying, irritatingly diffusive stench of an aerosol used to seal the tiles. I suppose it’s all good experience for the nose…

On a happier note, this’ll be the last post I put up before heading off to BAFTA HQ in London for the Jasmine Awards ceremony on the 9th, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I’ll let you know who’s won as soon as I can.

Oh, and you may be interested to know that before the end of the week, I hope to upload my review of Grossmith’s newly-released Betrothal. And I also think it’s high time I held another give-away…

Persolaise.

  1. Sounds like you have the accords of a new Comme des Garcons or Etat Libre fragrance going on at your house! It will be over soon….

  2. I shall keep my fingers crossed you win! You deserve to win.

Also that the purgatory of the Bathroom Saga will be replaced by the heavenly sanctuary to follow!:)

  3. Good luck at the awards, hope you do well! And also wishing your bathroom (and your sanity) a speedy return to functionality, and enjoyment.

  4. Tarleisio, yes, you're right about the bathroom. I think we're just going to live in it for about a month once it's ready to be used.

And thanks very much for your kind words about the Jasmines. I really appreciate it.

  5. Good luck! My fingers are crossed for you. I already told you I think you'll win–I read them all and liked yours the best!! 🙂 (safe travels, as well)
